Comics I've Read From August 29, 2007
So many Wednesdays of fun reading in August with a great end to the month this week. Amazons Attack #6 was a great and satisfying ending. Thanks to my son, I have a much better appreciation and understanding of the Greek gods and goddesses. World War Hulk X-Men #3 entertained me. Go Juggernaut! As always, I enjoyed Hellboy Darkness Calls #5. I'll never tire of that inimitable red demon. Is anybody else as confused as I am this week? What day is it?

Comics I've Read From August 22, 2007
So, I read a little bit of everything this week. Mouse Guard Winter 1152 #1 lived up to David Peterson's previous Mouse Guards. I read the last series in one fell swoop, but I don't think I can wait this time. I guess I'll read and re-read them. Complete Peanuts Vol. 8 came out this week, and my son was very kind to point out that these are the years where surfing Snoopy made his debut. Duncan was quite young when I taught the "Cowabunga!" yell. Ahhhh, Peanuts.....I'll never outgrow it! World War Hulk Gamma Files was wonderful for me because I'm still trying to learn who all of these Hulk characters are. World War Hulk Gamma Corps was smashing!!(ha..ha..) Batman #668 reminded that I need to read Batman more regularly to keep up, especially with Grant Morrison writing. What is it about Sam Kieth that keeps me reading his work? (Batman Lobo #1) It must be the humor because he's not exactly kind to his female characters, oh and that unique drawing style. I need to read some more of Bill Willingham's work (I read Fables and Shadowpact). Any suggestions?

Comics I've Read From August 15, 2007
You're going to be appalled that I haven't read more comics from this week. We work with over 100 libraries in the state who have graphic novel collections, and this is the time of year where school libraries keep me busy. Wolverine Origins #16 was great. I also read Good As Lily from the DC Minx series. It's a great read by Derek Kirk Kim who has also created Same Difference and Other Stories and co-created Gordon Yamamoto and the King of the Geeks with Gene Yang. On my list to still read from this week is Baltimore Steadfast Tin Soldier and Vampire. As always, I welcome suggestions.

Comics I've Read From August 8, 2007
It's another great week for comics... Fables, my all-time favorite, took a break from the current storyline to celebrate Snow White's and Bigby's pups fifth birthday. The tie-in to Jack of Fables was hilarious. World War Hulk Incredible Hulk and Front Line are great reads. The issues have original stories that are not repetitive. I picked up Punisher War Journal during Civil War and can't stop reading it! I meant to read BPRD but ran out of time because I've discovered Miki Falls, a manga written and illustrated by Mark Crilley of Akiko fame. It's beautifully illustrated with all the shading down by hand. I guess I'm an enigma, one week I'm reading The Walking Dead, and the next week I'm reading a romance! Until next week, happy reading!

Comics I've Read From August 1, 2007
Wow! The past two weeks have been a blur! We were vendors at Mugglefest, so, although I read my favorite comics, I've been delinquent on posting. It's been so nice this past week to have time to read and reread my faves. Topping off the list for this week, I thoroughly enjoyed WW Hulk #3. I think I'll follow Hulk's and Dr. Strange's lead. Laura smash! Dark Tower #7 was once again true to the original series, truly dark and gory. Peter the Pirate Squid is a wacky Roman Dirge romp; the illustrations are sweet. Upon recommendation from a fellow blogger, I picked up Thor. Coipel's pencilling and Laura Martin's coloring are amazing. Intermittently, I read Uncanny X-Men and am enjoying the Endangered Species story arc. I am now up through The Walking Dead V. 5. I can't imagine what Robert Kirkman's dreams must be like. Thanks to all who have left comments! I always welcome recommendations.

Comics I've Read From July 11, 2007
This week I enjoyed a couple of my old favorites. Fables continues to entertain me. The development of the Fly's character Ambrose is a great twist. Bill Willingham always entertains me. I'm planning on diving into Shadowpact thanks to customer recommendations. BPRD Garden of Souls ended this week also, nice and creepy. Not what I expected for Abe's background, how about you? World War Hulk Gamma Corps confused me somewhat. Has Ryker developed a Hulk serum? Who's the other Hulk-like dude? I finished The Walking Dead V. 3. The people are dropping like flies! Where will they go now?

Comics I've Read From July 5, 2007
There are so many great books to read again this week! This is so unusual for me. In the past, I usually have only one week a month where I'm reading multiple issues. Summertime and the comics are stupendous. World War Hulk is still entertaining me immensely with the Irredeemable Ant-Man tie-in. Now, we know that Hulk really needs to eat a more balanced diet! Runaways #27 continues the great early 1900's thread. It seemed very realistic (i.e. Typhoid Mary headline). Joss Whedon has seamlessly taken over where Brian Vaughan left off. Speaking of Brian K. Vaughan, how is he going to wrap up Y The Last Man in just three issues? I've promised myself that I will read to the end even though I'm distressed to see it end. When Starman was going to end, I had a tantrum and didn't read the last issues. Big mistake! Dark Tower #6 continues to be true to Stephen King's series with its stark grisliness. Now on to Robert Kirkman, I enjoyed The Astounding Wolf-Man #2 (#1 came out on Free Comic Book Day-we still have copies if you need one). It's a fun and imaginative read; although, what a change in voice from The Walking Dead. Yes, I've soaked in 2 volumes and can't wait to read the next. No character is safe, and the matter-of-fact harshness is appealing.
